Signs that it’s time to re-brand

They always say you must be the first or different at something in order to succeed at it. When starting my blog about a year ago, I had no idea what to expect. I went out and did a bunch of research, but I also learned a bunch as I went. The one thing that surprised me the most was how many bloggers are trying to do the same thing. I was struggling to stand out and be different from the rest which is why I decided to re-brand.

Why now is the perfect time to re-brand

While I have a passion for all things fashion and beauty, I needed to find a niche area that would help set me apart. Throughout my business classes, I came to realize that there is a need for a community of women in business. There are so many people out there who do not know the basics of how to interview, write a resume, etc. Furthermore, there’s an even smaller amount that do not know the basic topics of finance such as how to invest in stocks. I found that this was the perfect path that I could take to re-brand my blog.

Why I am only focusing on educating women

So why just focus on educating women? It is stereotypical to say that only men can get paid the most in a business job or that only men can major in finance. I have been one of the few girls in my finance internships, at times, the only girl in my group projects for my finance classes, and have talked to so many girls who have no idea what a stock is. I want women around the nation to realize that they can do just as much as a man can and women can do it better. I want to break down the stereotypes.

So what is the purpose of The Styled Southerner now?

The Styled Southerner will be a platform that will educate girls on finance, fashion, and overall goal reaching. It will provide a community and lessons for girls who want to advance their careers and reach high goals. It will encourage girls to enter the job force and become a leader within it. Overall, The Styled Southerner will aim to increase girls’ confidence. The new motto of The Styled Southerner will be “an online platform that teaches girls how to save money, reach goals, and look good while doing it.”

What services will The Styled Southerner offer?

Once I create an audience of girls who are interested in becoming a part of this kind of community, I will begin offering some services. I will offer 1:1 sessions which will help girls write their resume, edit their resume, practice their interviewing skills, and more. I will also start creating online courses that will go over topics such as “how to get an internship,” “how to write a resume,” “how to start investing,” etc. Lastly, there will be a Facebook community page where anyone can join. The purpose of this page will be for girls/women to ask eachother questions about job advice, finance advice, and encourage one another.

How am I qualified for this?

I recently graduated from Baylor University majoring in finance, entrepreneurship, and real estate. I have had two internships at two different Fortune 500 companies (read about those here). I will be starting my full-time career at JPMorgan in July! I have gone through numerous interviews (behavioral, case study, you name it) and have helped a lot of friends with their careers. I have a passion for helping others and finding their dream career!

It’s time to re-brand!

So now I encourage you to think about what you are doing now? You don’t have to be a blogger. But think about where you are and how it’s working for you. Are you finding success in what you are doing? Are you growing and learning? Are you promoting change? These are things to think about and maybe you can consider re-branding. I hope that this kind of reflection makes you want to get out there and go after what you are passionate about!

Staying styled, southern, and sweet
