I am so excited to share how I decorated my new bedroom! I just moved into a new apartment in Uptown/Victory park area in Dallas. It has been so fun to decorate this space. Since I just graduated from college, I wanted to keep to a budget. I loved the idea of white and gold furniture but could not find anything that was in my price range, so I decided to create my own. I have seen so many great Ikea Malm DIYs and wanted to try it out for myself.
Room Reveal
My vision was to stick with mostly pink and gold throughout the room. I think one of my favorite parts is the gold greek key lamps. They make such a great statement.
I work from home a lot so I needed a comfy desk chair and not only is this chair comfy, but I think it is so cute too!
If you know me, you know how picky I am with light coming into my room at night. I needed some heavy duty blackout curtains and let me tell you these do the job. The white frames are from Ikea and the gold frame is from Marshall’s so I cannot link them.
Ikea Malm DIY Directions
There are just a few short steps:
- Order your Ikea furniture: you can do this DIY on any furniture at Ikea. I just happened to go with the Malm set. The dresser holds so much and is the perfect size. I wish the nightstands were a little larger. I would maybe go with the three drawer dresser as a nightstand if I had to choose again.
- Build your furniture
- Order hardware: I will link the hardware I used down below. I ordered it from Amazon and it came fast. They are great quality for the price!
- Drill holes: This is probably the hardest part (besides actually building the furniture). I measured out the width of the hardware, used a pencil to make marks, and then just drilled holes and screwed in the hardware.
It really is that easy to complete your Ikea Malm DIY. I am so happy with how everything came out and glad that I was able to keep within my budget.
